Honoured, and deeply grateful
“I am honoured and deeply grateful to receive the UKBC Bengali Sera Samman Award at Cambridge for my community service and contribution in the United Kingdom,” Bhavana said. “I would like to thank UKBC Showcase, the United Kingdom Bengali Convention, and the entire organising team for recognising my work and presenting me with this honour.”
Where the journey began
Bhavana’s path into Bengali events started at home. She thanked her family — especially her husband, Tuneer Ghosh, and their son, Trishik Ghosh — for the reason it all began.
“My journey in Bengali events began with a deeply personal purpose: to help my family stay connected to my husband’s Bengali roots, and to teach our son that we must value our traditions and always stay connected to where we come from.”

That purpose grew into Karisyo Events — and into celebrations such as the Manchester Boishakh Festival 2026, which brought more than 500 guests and over 20 acts together to welcome the Bengali New Year.
A community effort
Bhavana expressed her heartfelt gratitude to her dear friend Adwitee Raychoudhuri (Ankhi), who took the initiative to nominate her for the award.
She also thanked her friends Sanchari Bhattacharya, Satabdi Dutta, Soma Ghosh, Debalina Chakorborty, Tanisha Das, Tanishtha Chakraborty, Aniruddha Raychoudhuri, Sabhyasachi Dutta, Satyaki Banerjee, Gourav Sarkar, Dr Somnath Coomer and Dr Asit Ghosh for their constant support and encouragement — along with Prithibi and Koushik Chakraborty, and every Manchester friend, artist, performer, volunteer and sponsor who has supported her journey.
“I could not have achieved this without your encouragement, trust and belief.”
Dedicated to our community
“This recognition inspires me to continue creating platforms that bring people together, celebrate our culture and make a positive difference,” Bhavana said. “That is the vision behind Karisyo Events by Bhavana Ghosh: to create platforms that inspire and unite people.”
“Most importantly, I dedicate this award to our Bengali community. This is your award too.”
